Manny Pacquiao seems to have his next fight in place, and no, it's absolute not Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum tells the Los Angeles Times his fighter is set to face Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez -- for the 3rd time -- at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 12, 2011 in a welterweight title bout. The deal could be signed anytime from today, with a $5 million guarantee for Marquez.
With Marquez (52-5-1, 38 KOs) turning 38 in August this may be a tough fight to hype. But Marquez is one of the few opponents who has given Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs) trouble. In 2004 he was knocked down by Pacquiao three times in the first round, but kept getting off the mat and forged a draw. In 2008 he lost a split-decision to Pacquiao, and one judge's card for Pacquiao had it at the slimmest of margins, at 114-113.
Pacquiao just came off from a convincing but rather dull victory by decision against Shane Mosley.
